If you think about it, the first car by Gottlieb was in the late 18th century, then in 1969 we landed a man on the moon and we have rovers on Mars. Do you expect science to advance in the next 10-30 years ? Or minimal advancement ?

Space science will advanced because scientists are forced to think of going out into space for many reasons.
1. Overpopulation on earth with global warming and dwindling animal and plant resources.
2. Natural disasters like earthquakes, floods, hurricanes, and threat of solar wind and comet collision with the earth, about 30 years into the future and again a more severe one 102 years away from now. There could be almost total destruction of life and civilizations would be covered with dust due to the comet collision. Hence, a colony on Mars or out in space becomes the option.
3. The ISS is being used for experiments on effect of zero gravity on man for he next two to three years.
